Tanker rescued two castaways

Thu Nov 14 09:58:17 CET 2019 Timsen

The 'Stena Progress', enroute from Montral to Houston, took part in an SAR operation 529 miles East of Virginia Beach, which the US Coast Guard suspended in the evening of Nov 13, 2019. They were searching for a man who reportedly entered the water with two other people in the morning. Watchstanders at the Coast Guard’s 5th District command center received the initial report at approximately 4 a.m. that the 'Stena Progress' had diverted from its course to respond to a MAYDAY broadcast on VHF-FM channel 16 from the sailing vessel 'In Tune'. The crew of the Coast Guard Cutter 'Vigorous', an HC-130 Hercules aircrew from Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City, North Carolina, and an HC-144 Casa aircrew from Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod, Massachusetts, were launched to respond. Once the HC-130 Hercules aircrew arrived on scene, two of the three persons had been recovered by the 'Stena Progress', and the aircrew deployed a life raft into the water and commenced their search for the remaining person in the water. The HC-144 Casa aircrew relieved the HC-130 Hercules aircrew from the search in the afternoon. After they searched over 1,069 square nautical miles, the Coast Guard has suspended its search, pending the development of new information.

Concordia Maritime signs three-year time charter contract for P-MAX tanker

Tue Mar 15 12:03:06 CET 2016 arnekiel

Concordia Maritime has signed a contract to charter out another P-MAX tanker, Stena Progress. The contract, which comes into effect in April 2016, is for three years. Contract partner is a national oil company. “We are continuing to take advantage of the market momentum by chartering out another of our P-MAX tankers over a longer period. We have now chartered out three of our ten P-MAX tankers over longer periods and are continuously evaluating the possibility of similar arrangements. All contracts are fully in line with our chartering strategy. We ensure a good level of income for the vessel over the coming year, while balancing the exposure to the spot market in a well-judged way,” says Kim Ullman, CEO of Concordia Maritime. The vessel will be mainly used for niche trades in the Atlantic Basin. With her shallow draft and high load capacity, the P-MAX tanker will allow efficient transportation of large volumes. http://www.hellenicshippingnews.com/concordia-maritime-signs-three-year-time-charter-contract-for-p-max-tanker/
