Repair interrupted due to financial difficulties
The 'Svitoch', which had suffered an engine failure, lost power and went adrift in the Black Sea on Oct 5, 2020, and arrieved at a shipyard in Unye on Oct 24, could not be further repaired due to the Covid-19 virus and owner's financial difficulties The vessel remained stationary at the shipyard as of Jan 25, 2021.
Repair at yard in Unye
A new set of spare parts has been provided by the owners of the 'Svitoch' which had suffered an engine failure in the Black Sea on Oct 5 and was berthed at a shipyard in Unye for repairs on Oct 24. Steel replacement was also being carried out from the deformed location as per class surveyor's further recommendations. Upon completion of permanent repairs, sea trials will be carried out under the supervision of surveyors. The vessel remained stationary in Unye, as of Dec 4.
Engine damage under repair at Unye
The 'Svitoch', while enroute Nikolaev, suffered an engine failure, lost power and went adrift in the Western area of the Black Sea on Oct 5, 2020. The ship berthed in Samsun frm Oct 21-22. It arrived at Ünye anchorage on Oct 24 and entered the port upon completion of customs formalities. A detailed damage survey was carried out by shore-based technical teams along with the Classification Society surveyor. Repair works have since commenced, and the vessel remained stationary at Ünye as of Nov 1.
