16 Vinashinlines vessels in trouble, put up for sale as they are

Thu Dec 27 06:05:03 CET 2012 odinfm

Several Vietnamese vessels belonging to troubled Vinashinlines found themselves in very difficult situation, stranded both in home ports and abroad. VietNamNet Bridge reported up to 16 vessels are left unsupported by the owner. Most desperate are the crews of general cargo vessel Cai Lan 4, stranded in Kolkata, India, since October, bulk carrier New Phoenix (IMO 8317277), stranded in Dalian, and Diamond Way (IMO 8611128), stranded in UAE. Cai Lan 4 is arrested by the Indian court for outstanding debt to a Singaporean bunker supplier. Crews of all those vessels weren’t paid for months, the supplies run out, it is especially difficult for New Phoenix in China, where crew has to find wood for makeshift fire to keep themselves warm. Crews are asking Vietnamese authorities for help. Vinashinlines says it just don’t have money, crews have to wait, there is no other choice. Vinashinlines plans to sell most of the stranded vessels as and where they are. Maritime Bulletin http://www.odin.tc
