Hartzi at public auction

Wed Jan 18 10:00:49 CET 2012 Timsen

The "Hartzi" which is actually detained in Skagen, will be auctioned on Jan 18, 2012, at the court in Hjørring. The Shipowners' Group which is registered on the Marshall Islands has given up, and therefore the bank consortium behind the group was forced to sale in the whole 12 vessels. The "Hartzi" became famous in 2011 while the tanker was anchored for months off the coast of Skagen with 19 crew members being not paid and lacking all necessities. Eventually the Handelsflådens Velfærdsråd and the International Transport Workers intervened and supported the sailors.

Hartz-sailors got their wages

Fri Aug 26 09:37:06 CEST 2011 Timsen

After being stranded in Skagen since May 2011, the 19 sailors on board the "Hartzi" have finally been paid wages owed to a total of 1.8 million dollars after the ship has been redeemed by a Norwegian shipping company. The International Transport Workers Federation said to be satisfied that the 19 sailors - 11 Russians, four Ukrainians and four Filipinos which had been left to themselves on board the tanker which has been anchored off the coast of Skagen, now got their salaries. The ship detained after the owner had not paid the bill of a bunker company. The Handelsflådens Velfærdsråd meanwhile had ensured that the men received medical attention, food and water while Transport Workers' Union worked to get the company to pay the crew their wages. On Aug 24, 2011, the e sailors received their tickets, so they could return home starting on Aug 25.
