Grounding on Volga-Caspian Sea Canal,
The 'Golden Rose', being loaded with grain bound from Astrakhan to Amirabad, ran aground at kilometer mark 155 on the Volga-Caspian Sea Canal, on June 16, 2020, at 7.30 a.m. The ship blocked the passing canal traffic, at least 28 ships were lined up, waiting for passage in both directions, while refloating attempts were going on as of June 17.
Technical failure in Istanbul Strait
The "Vestimar", en route from Rostov on Don to Nemrut Bay, experienced a technical failure at the northern entrance of Istanbul Strait on Feb 23, 2018, at 11 p.m. The vessel's strait passage permission has been temporarily cancelled until completion of further repairs. Repairs have commenced by the crew, and the vessel remained stationary at the northern entrance of Istanbul Strait. On Feb 26 it dropped anchor off Aliaga.
