Vidi damaged by drifting barges
On Dec 8, 2016, a barge train broke lose from its mooring on the Rhine at Rheinbrohl. The barges were loaded with 2300 tons sun flower kernels and had berthed for the night. The swell of passing ships caused the wires to break, and the barges turned into the fairway where they slammed into the "Vidi", 2918 ts (EU-No.: 02331965). The tank barge was damaged so significantly at the bow which was dented and breached above the waterline, that it was only allowed to proceed to the river port Andernach to be unloaded there before proceeding to a repair yards. The cargo tanks, however, remained undamaged. The damage was estimated to be some hundred thousand Euros. The "Vidi" left the port of Andernach again and headed to Ghent via Terneuzen, arriving at the tank company Curo Silo on Dec 19 at noon. Vidi refloated and in port
The "Vidi" was refloated in the second salvage attempt on Oct 31, 2011, and moored in the Rheinau-Port in basin 4 in Mannheim for inspections. The Rhine ferry to Mannheim could resume its service after the ship was pulled off.
Tanker ran aground on Rhine
The "Vidi" ran aground on the Rhine near Altrip on Oct 31, 2011, at 7 a.m. The ship which was enroute Antwerp-Mannheim Rheinau-port with a cargo of 1250 tons lubricating oil got stuck in the shipping channel of the Rhine ferry to Mannheim which was blocked thus. Now it had to be determined whether the tanker must be discharged or whether another barge could pull the vessel out. Other ship traffic was not affected, but ships were forced to pass the accident site slowly. A first attempt to refloat the tanker failed.
