Fire in engine room
The "Viking Merlin", after having docked in Philadelphia on July 13, 2015, coming from Haina, suffered a fire on July 13, 2015. The fire started in the engine room in one of the diesel generators and disabled the reefer points power supply. The fire was extinguished by the CO2 firefighting system, which filled the compartment with carbon dioxide and stopped the flames from spreading, but it disabled the container power supply system. The vessel had to stay in port until repairs have been carried out.
