Fri Jul 08 21:39:23 CEST 2022 Timsen

The crew of the 'Kittitas' has rescued a couple after a canoe capsized near the Vashon Island ferry dock on July 4, 2022, at around 10 p.m. Crew members saw the couple in the water holding onto a paddleboard after their canoe had turned over. Two crew members were immediately lowered a rescue boat and assisted the couple in the water. They were headed to Blake Island to spend time with their kids that night.

A man was rescued on Mar 23, 2011, near Hat Island after using a dinghy to escape his burning boat. Flames ripped through the 31-foot boat, sending a large plume of black smoke over the water. A passing boater picked up the man. Everett police divers were in the area doing some training and brought the man onto their boat. The crew aboard the "Kittitas" took a detour from their run to Clinton and helped extinguish the blaze. The Coast Guard sent a MH-65 Dolphin helicopter from Port Angeles and a boat from Seattle. Local firefighters launched boats from Kayak Point. The boat eventually sank. reports with photos: http://heraldnet.com/article/20110323/BLOG41/110329928/-1/news01 http://www.pnwlocalnews.com/whidbey/swr/news/118516809.html
