Two injured crew members medevaced
The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) medevaced two crew members who suffered severe burn injuries on board the 'Xante' off Kochi on May 18, 2023. They were identified as Ambrose Antony (48) and Pradeep Jaiswal (32). Both the sailors were Indians and had suffered critical second-degree burns while working in the engine room of the ship, which was en route from RAK Maritime City, UAE, to Chennai with an ETA as of May 22. A medical distress call was received by MRCC in Mumba and forwarded to ICG in Kochi around 7 a.m., following which the rescue operation was launched. The Coast Guard vessel 'C-162' left from Kochi headed to the tanker, which was around 30 nautical miles away. The medical team embarked for transfer of the injured persons from the tanker. They suffered burns after the hot lubricant oil accidently fell on their hands. The patients were brought to the Coast Guard Jetty at Kochi at around 9 a.m. and transported to a private hospital.
Allision with breakwater
The 'Black Pearl' allided with a breakwater while sailing in the Kanmon Strait en route from Moji to Ichihara in position 33 54 48.0 N, 130 56 00.0 E on March 9, 2022, at 3 p.m.. No oil leakage or water ingress occurred. The accident was investigated by the Japan Coast Guard. On March 12 the ship moored on Tokyo Anchorage.
Tanker disabled off Australian coast
The "Black Pearl" suffered engine failure on Apr 26, 2016, in the Coral Sea east of Gladstone, en route from Kaohsiung to Gladstone. The tanker was drifting towards the coast, before being taken in tow by the tug "Sl Targinnie (IMO: 9488724). The convoy was now proceeding at five knots speed towards Cairns.
