Bulker seized with contraband iron ore

The "Jian Hua" was seized with 68,000 tons of contraband iron ore on board, which had been loaded in port of Lazaro Cardenas. The mayor and treasurer of Lazaro Cardenas were arrested on suspicion of ties to the Knights Templar drug cartel who are known as iron ore smugglers, in addition to trafficking methamphetamine to the U.S. The vessel was arrested after it had sailed from Manzanillo port on Apr 23, 2014, and on May 3 the vessel was anchored on Manzanillo roads.
