At least 10 laden product tankers have dropped anchor in the Mideast Gulf (MEG) in recent shipping activity, as shipping traffic through the Strait of Hormuz comes to a virtual standstill amid widespread and ongoing military activity in the region. The product tanker vessels have departed from MEG load ports since February 27 and via AIS have declared disport destinations outside the region, as well as estimated arrival times and laden drafts.

The product tanker shipments total approximately 207 KMT of naphtha, 189 KMT of fuel oil and 183 KMT of jet fuel, as well as cargoes of gasoline and base oil. A number of product tankers are thought to have transited the Strait of Hormuz since late last week, either laden or in ballast, with some apparently attempting to evade continuous AIS coverage during this transit.
