A Panama-flagged tanker believed to be the Centuries was seized by U.S. authorities east of Barbados on Saturday for violating sanctions on Venezuelan oil exports. Wood Mackenzie tracking shows the vessel loading in Venezuelan under the name Crag.
The vessel loaded approximately 1.93mn bbls of Merey 16 crude at Jose West Berth in Venezuela before departing with a declared destination of Malaysia. Venezuelan flows heading to Malaysia often continue to Asian refiners or do ship to ship operations near Malayisa or Singapore.
The Centuries is the second vessel to be seized by the US, after the Skipper was seized on December 10th. Both vessels were VLCCs carrying Merey crude.
