Crew member tested positive for COBID 19

Mon Feb 22 13:33:29 CET 2021 Timsen

A crew member from the 'Martha’s Vineyard' has tested positive for the coronavirus. He last worked on the ferry on the watch that began with the noon trip leaving Woods Hole on Feb 12 12, 2021, and ending with the trip arriving in Woods Hole on Feb 13 at 11:30 a.m. He subsequently felt ill and received a test for COVID-19; after receiving the positive test result on Feb 20, 2021, he immediately notified the Steamship Authority. Crew aboard the "Martha’s Vineyard" who may have been in close contact with their infected colleague have been notified. No operational changes or interruptions were anticipated as a result of this incident.

Crew members tested positive for COVID-19

Sat Jan 16 23:59:49 CET 2021 Timsen

Two Steamship Authority crew members have tested positive for the coronavirus, one on the 'Martha’s Vineyard' and one on the 'Nantucket'. The 'Martha’s Vineyard' crew member last worked on a Vineyard route shift that began at noon on Jan. 10, 2021, and ended at 11:30 a.m. on Jan. 11. He was subsequently was identified as being in close contact with individuals who tested positive for COVID-19; the crew member then obtained a test, the results of which were positive. The 'Nantucket' crew member last worked on a shift that began on Jan 7 at 2:45 p.m. and ended on Jan 8 at 2:15 p.m. He subsequently learned that a relative with whom there had been close contact had tested positive for COVID-19. The employee fell ill and obtained a test, the results of which were positive. The Barnstable County Department of Health and Environment and Cape Cod Healthcare will help furnish COVID-19 testing for employees from both ferries who may have had close contact with the infected crewmembers, according to a release. These employees will not be allowed to return to work until after a negative test result is received or are cleared to work by a medical professional.

Sailings cancelled due to positive COVID-19 test

Tue Dec 08 11:27:47 CET 2020 Timsen

The Steamship Authority cancelled two sailings of the 'Martha's Vineyard' on Dec 4, after a crew member tested positive for COVID-19. The 12 p.m. departure from Woods Hole and 1:15 p.m. departure from Vineyard Haven were cancelled. A substitute crew was assigned to the vessel following the two cancelled trips, allowing it to adhere to its usual schedule for the rest of the day. The employee who tested positive last worked a shift that began with a 12 p.m. trip on Nov 28 and ended with the vessel's 11:30 a.m. arrival in Woods Hole on Nov 29. He subsequently developed symptoms of COVID-19 and was tested; the employee received the results in the morning of Dec 4 and immediately notified the Authority. As he was a member of the crew that was due to take its watch with the noon departure of the ferry from Woods Hole, that crew was instructed not to report for duty on the vessel. The other crew members were to be tested for COVID-19 prior to returning to work. Due to the position of the man it was very unlikely that any member of the public was exposed to the virus.
