Fate of Russian managed tanker in Belfast unclear
Northern Ireland ports have been advised to turn away all Russian ships following direction from the UK Government. Foyle Port, which operates on the outskirts of Derry, remains committed to working within the legislation set by the Department for Transport to support sanctions on Russian owned and managed ships. In Belfast, the fate of the Russian 'Eduard Toll' remains unclear. The vessel docked at Harland & Wolff’s shipyard on Feb 7, 2022, where it is currently being worked on.
NOVATEK shipped first LNG cargos to China
PAO NOVATEK says it has shipped its first cargos of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the Yamal LNG project to China via the Northern Sea Route. Today, in the presence of Alexander Novak, the Minister of Energy of Russia and Nur Bekri, the Director of the National Energy Administration of China, an official ceremony was held to commemorate the arrival of Arc7 LNG tankers “Vladimir Rusanov” and “Eduard Toll” to the Chinese port of Jiangsu Rudong. The net voyage time from the port of Sabetta through the Northern Sea Route to the destination port was completed in 19 days as compared to 35 days for the traditional eastern route via the Suez Canal and the Strait of Malacca.
LNG carrier Eduard Toll completes the Northern Sea Route passage
PAO NOVATEK announced that two Arc7 ice-class LNG tankers “Vladimir Rusanov” and “Eduard Toll” are completing the Northern Sea Route passage via the Eastern direction. The “Vladimir Rusanov” passed the Northern Sea Route and arrived at the Bering Strait, while the “Eduard Toll” entered open water in the Chukchi Sea. Both tankers were dispatched from the port of Sabetta loaded with cargos of LNG produced by the Company’s Yamal LNG project and are now heading towards the Chinese port of Jiangsu Rudong. The ice-covered part of the route was passed in only 9 days with no ice-breaking support, thus confirming the outstanding ice-breaking capabilities of the Arc7 ice-class vessels.
