Death of crew member to be investigated

Mon Mar 28 10:51:38 CEST 2022 Timsen

The Japanese authorities will open an investigation into the presumed death of a Filipino crew member of the 'One Minato' south of Mallorca. Rescue forces tried unsuccessfully to locate the crew member, and amid a chain of storms and with low visibility, there was no chance for his survival. When the alarm was rised, more than 20 hours had elapsed since the sailor's last watch. There was no lack of life-saving material on board and the crew member had not left anything in his cabin that could indicate that it was a suicide. It was assumed that the sailor suffered an accidental fall into the sea due to the storm. The container ship was now already sailing the North Atlantic.

At the time of the accident, there was a swell of three meters, which hampered the search.
