INTERTUNA TRES 9202704

Mon Nov 22 11:08:15 CET 2010 Timsen

On Nov 21, 2010, private security aboard the "Intertuna III" on fought off a pirate attack while it sailed in the Indian Ocean. The attack took place in the early morning around 400 miles off the coast of Mahé, the largest island in the Seychelles archipelago. The pirate skiffs pursued the vessel, which belongs to the Albacora company based in Bermeo (Biscay) for 45 minutes during which there was an exchange of fire, though fortunately nobody aboard the ship was injured. The incident is the 7th attack to be carried out on a Basque tuna ship in the last two weeks. On Nov 13, the "Albacán", which also belongs to the Albacora group, managed to escape yet another hijack attempt by pirates.

INTERTUNA TRES 9202704

Sun Oct 17 23:36:07 CEST 2010 zaloasv

The "Ortube berria", auxiliary fishing vessel of the Intertuna III for detecting fishing areas, was suffering this afternoon a pirate attack in the Indian Ocean, around 700 miles off the Somalia coast. The vessel, which belongs to the Albacora company with base in Bermeo (Spain) and has two private security guards on board, was chased by a rapid boat at around 1230 GMT, and they repelled the attack by opening fire. Then they were full ahead to get away from the pirates until the pirates gave up. All the crew, around 10 people, are in good condition. The 'Ortube Berria' already suffered a pirate attack last year and also had to repel it by opening fire.
