Medevac off Vancouver Island

A Cormorant helicopter of the Canadian Forces airlifted a patient from the 'Norwegian Bliss' on June 5, 2022, about 20 nautical miles offshore from Northern Vancouver Island. The CH-149 Cormorant from 442 Transport and Rescue Squadron, based out of CFB Comox, conducted the medevac of the patient from the ship. He was then successfully transported to Comox to receive medical care. The ship was en route from Seattle to Icy Streait Point. Medevac off Cape Fear

The US Coast Guard medevaced a man from the 'Norwegian Bliss' approximately 160 miles southeast of Cape Fear, North Carolina, in the night of Jan3, 2020. Watchstanders at the Coast Guard’s Fifth District command center were contacted by the captain of the cruise ship who requested a medevac for an 85-year-old passenger that was in need of medical assistance. Watchstanders contacted the duty flight surgeon who recommended a medevac. A Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter aircrew was launched along with an HC-130 Hercules aircrew. The Jayhawk aircrew arrived on scene and hoisted the man off the cruise ship while the Hercules aircrew provided support.

The US Coast Guard medevaced a man from the 'Norwegian Bliss' 40 miles southeast of Hatteras, North Carolina, in the afternoon of Dec 2, 2019. Watchstanders at the Coast Guard’s Fifth District command center received a medevac request from the captain of the cruise ship for a passenger reportedly experiencing symptoms of appendicitis. Watchstanders consulted the duty flight surgeon who recommended a medevac. A Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter aircrew launched and medevaced the man from the cruise ship to awaiting emergency medical services personnel at Carteret General Hospital in Morehead City.
