Owner to develop salvage plan

Thu May 24 12:35:14 CEST 2018 Timsen

After the sinking of the "Reyes del Mar 2" that was moored in Concepción del Uruguay on May 10, the wreck must be removed by its owner and develop a salvage plan, which must be approved by the Préfecture. Once the required documentation is authorized, the port authority will accompany and monitor the work at the dock 7. Renato Alegua - who acquired the vessel on Nov 1, 2017 in a judicial auction - must take charge of the ship. Pollutants which could pose a threat for the environment had alread been removed by an authorized company as a preventive action. Complementary cleaning and environmental tasks were carried out in coordination with the Secretary of the Environment of Entre Ríos. The sinking did not cause significant problems in the docks, used only for mooring in an area that does not affect port operations. Fish factory capsized in Concepción

Fri May 11 10:55:26 CEST 2018 Timsen

In the morning of May 10, 2018, the “Reyes del Mar” capsized and sank in the dock Nº7 of the Port of Concepción . The ship initially visibly heeled against the dock, so it was tried to avoid sinking, but the efforts were in vainas it changed its position and began to tilt over towards the Itapé creek. Despite the efforts of Prefectura personnel and Volunteer Firemen to drain the water with bilge pumps, the ship sank in the afternoon. Oil booms were laid out to contain a fuel spill by vessels of the Naval Prefecture. In November 2011 the ship had caught fire in the port and was languishing at the quay since. The hull was weakened after the fire, and rainwater infiltration was thought to have caused list to starboard The Puerto Autonomous Municipality of Concepción del Uruguay (EAPCU) was making the necessary arrangements to ensure the environmental safety of the Uruguay River and provide the necessary security for the navigability of the area. The ship was owned the company Agua Marina and after it was declared bankrupt, it was bought by an individual named Renato Aleua, in a judicial auction, so all the notices will be filed with the new owner.
