Bunker boat raised again

Thu Mar 08 18:51:04 CET 2018 Timsen

On March 8 at 1 p.m. the "Zwaantje 8" was floating again in the canal through Zuid-Beveland. Due to an unknown cause, a hole of 12 centimeters had opened in the standpipe of the toilet, and the ship was slowly flooded and sank. The hole was plugged to stop further leakage, and the water could be pumped out of the tanker again. The sheerleg "Delta" of the salvage company Van der Straaten lifted the ship. Only small amounts of the 60 tons diesel aboard leaked out and were contained by oil booms. Dutch report with photos and video: http://112midden-zeeland.nl/bunkerboot-zwaantje-8-weer-geborgen/

Bunker tanker sank in Hansweert

Thu Mar 08 11:45:32 CET 2018 Timsen

The "Zwaantje 8“ sankin the morning of March 8, 2018, between the locks of Hansweert and the Vlake Bridge at the height of Schore in the South Beveland Canal. The bunker tanker had been berthed at a bunker pontoon over night. It had on board 60 cubic meters diesel. Only the bow of the tanker was protruding from the water. After the police and Rijkswaterstaat were alerted, salvors were called and an oil boom was laid out as a precaution. On scene were the crane ship "Walrus“, the tug "Charlie“, the patrol boat "RWS 75“ and a sheerleg of Van der Straaten, which started to raise the wreck in the foremidday after the cargo was drained. At 1 p.m. the bunker boat was floating again in the wires of the sheerleg.
