Tanker grounded off Elegushi Beach
The "Anuket Emerald" which has been moored off Lagos Elegushi since Apr 9, 2016, in pos. N 06° 21.01' N 003° 25.22' E has recently drifted onto Elegushi beach and remained there since. The tanker was intercepted on March 8, 2015, by officers of the Nigerian Navy, during a routine patrol within Nigerian waters. Further investigation by the EFCC revealed that the registered owner of the vessel was Combe Shipping Limited and the beneficial owner was Alliance Tankers Incorporated. The Monjasa DMCC of Dubai UAE were the chatterers of the vessel. Bunker Tanker Admitted as Evidence in Illegal Bunkering Case
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Nigeria Friday said the bunker tanker MT Anuket Emerald was submitted to a Lagos court as evidence in an illegal bunkering case brought against Monjasa DMCC, and Glencore Energy UK Limited, among others. Justice Ibrahim Buba of the Federal High Court, who is presiding over the case, is said to have admitted the vessel to the court's proceedings. Buba, prosecution counsel (Rotimi Oyedepo), the defence counsel (Babajide Koku), and Senior Detective Superintendent Abdulahi Alaya, as well as Pakhladzhian Artur, the captain of the tanker, are reported to have inspected the vessel together at the Nigeria Navy Beecroft. Tanker admitted as exhibit
On Nov 13, 2015, justice Ibrahim Buba of the Federal High Court, Lagos, admitted the "Anuket Emerald", a vessel allegedly used for illegal dealing in petroleum product as exhibit. Justice Buba alongside the prosecution counsel, Rotimi Oyedepo, the defence counsel, Babajide Koku, SAN and the captain of the vessel, Pakhladzhian Artur, were at the Nigeria Navy Beecroft to inspect the vessel where it was admitted as exhibit. During the inspection, Abdulahi Alaya, a Senior Detective Superintendent of the EFCC testified that the "Anuket Emerald" was the vessel and that it had petroleum products onboard. The prosecution counsel also tendered the cargo onboard the vessel and the log book which were admitted by the judge as exhibits. Justice Buba adjourned the case to Nov 16 for further hearing. The tanker was intercepted on Mar 8, 2015, by officers of the Nigerian Navy, during a routine patrol within Nigerian waters. Further investigation by the EFCC revealed that the registered owner of the vessel is Combe Shipping Limited and the beneficial owner is Alliance Tankers Incorporated and that the ship flies Panama Flag with IMO number 9393644. Furthermore, it was discovered that Monjasa DMCC of Dubai UAE were the chatterers of the vessel.
