Motoryacht sank after collision with passenger ferry
On Sep 14, 2019, at 6.45 p.m. the "Falkenstein" was in collision with a 12--m-motoryacht on the Elbe. The hull of the yacht was torn open, and it started to list. The water police, German Life Saving Society (DLRG) and fire brigade rescued all eight persons aboard the boat and took them to shore where they were medically treated. One man came into hospital with a hand injury. The yacht which was sinking by te stern was pulled to a berth at the fish market by the police boat "WS 31" where it capsized with only the bow remaining above the water. No one aboard the "Falkenstein" with 150-200 passengers on board was injured. Woman fell over board of Elbe ferry
On Sep 9, 2018, a 64-year old woman went over board of the "Falenstein". She had opened a a flap of the railing of the ferry and wanted to make herself comfortable at the edge of the ship. But the woman was hit by a wave and fell into the water of the Elbe. The skipper of a nearby pleasure bot quickly recovered her. She was not injured.
Allision in Hamburg
The pilot boat "Lotse 4" (MMSI: 211589740) was in allision with the "Falkenstein" (on the Elbe at the Teufelsbrück pier in the early morning of June 13, 2017. A deck hand on the pilot boat suffered slight injuries when it lost manoeverability due to an engine failure while approaching the pier and slammed into the bow of the HADAG ferry which was already berthed there. The 18-m-boat "Lotse 4“ suffered significant bow damage, the ferry only scratches.
