Several migrant boats received assistance
In the morning of Jan 31, 2024, the CROSS Gris-Nez was informed that several migrant boats were in difficulty in the Strait of Pas-de-Calais and deployed the 'Thémis' and the semi-rigid 'President Jacques Lebrun' from the SNSM station Boulogne-sur-Mer. The patrol boat Thémis recovered 14 people on board, who were taken to the port of Boulogne-sur-Mer and taken care of by the land rescue services and the border police. Later in the morning, the CROSS Gris-Nez engaged the mine warfare experimentation vessel BEGM Thétis, of the French Navy, to assist a second boat in difficulty off the coast of Audresselles. The crew of the 'Thétis' rescued the people on board the precarious boat. While the operation was underway, the weather deteriorated with stronger winds and increasingly rough seas. The CROSS Gris-Nez then engaged the 'Abeille Normandie'. 27 people were rescued by the crew of the 'Thétis' and then taken care of by land rescue teams at the dock in Calais. At the same time, the crew of the 'Abeille Normandie' rescued 28 people and dropped them off at the quayside in Boulogne-sur-Mer, where they were taken care of by shore based emergency services.
About 60 migrants rescued in two missions
On Sep 25, the CROSS Gris-Nez was informed that a boat was in difficulty off Dunkirk. The 'Themis' picked up around twenty castaways and dropped them off at the port of Dunkirk where they were taken care of by the border police. In the night of Sep 25, the CROSS Gris-Nez got t in contact with migrants requesting assistance off Sangatte. The 'Themis' picked up around forty castaways, some of whom were in a mild state of hypothermia. The castaways were dropped off at the port of Dunkirk West and then taken care of by the fire figthers and the border police.
58 migrants rescued in four missions
On Sep 22, 2021, the CROSS Gris-Nez was informed that a boat was in difficulty off Calais. The 'Themis' picked up the five castaways on board and dropped them off at the port of Calais (62) where they were taken care of by the border police and the fire and rescue services. Later that night, the CROSS Gris-Nez was put in contact with castaways requesting assistance off Dunkirk. The 'Themis' recovered 35 castaways. They are then transferred onto the lifeboat 'Notre Dame de Risban' of the SNSM station in Calais. They were dropped off at the port of Calais. The CROSS Griz-Nez was then informed that a boat was in difficulty off Malo-les-Bains. The CROSS again sent the 'Themis' to assist the 15 castaways. They were then dropped off at the port of Dunkirk. On Sep 23, 2021, the CROSS Gris-Nez was informed that a boat was in difficulty off the coast of Calais. The 'Themis' was tasked to assist and picked up three castaways who were dropped off at the port of Calais, where they were taken care of by the border police and the fire and rescue department.
