On Jan 27, 2017, the "Schwentine" (EU-No.: 04802010), the former river cruise ship "Viking Sky", which had served as accomodation ship at HDW Kiel left the Lindenau Yard in Kiel after overhauls bound to Amsterdam. The ship came only to Rendsburg where she had to berth due to engine trouble and for improvements at the shelter panels of the lower windows the same day at 9 p.m. Due to unsuitable weather on the further transit she returned to the Lindenau Yard on Jan 29 at 7 p.m.

Viking River Cruises named No 1 river cruise line

Thu Jul 12 09:05:29 CEST 2012 arnekiel

Currently celebrating its 15th anniversary, Viking River Cruises has been named No. 1 River Cruise Line by readers of Travel + Leisure. The results of the 17th annual Travel + Leisure World’s Best Awards survey reflect readers’ ratings of cruise lines on the following characteristics: cabins, food, service, itineraries/destinations, activities and value, the carrier's press release said. “It is an honor to be recognized by Travel + Leisure readers, and I believe this ranking acknowledges Viking’s commitment to being the best river cruise line in the world,” said Torstein Hagen, chairman of Viking River Cruises. “As we plan for our next 15 years, we strive to uphold the standards of excellence that have made us the world’s leading river cruise line.”
