Maersk Vessel Breaks TEU Record

A.P. Moeller Maersk has announced that one of its vessels – the Mumbai Maersk - has broken the record for the largest amount of cargo ever stowed after it left dock at Tanjung Pelepas Port in Malaysia carrying 19,038 TEU. The second-generation, Triple-E vessel, which has a capacity of 20,568 TEU, will arrive in Rotterdam on September 5, 2018.

Collision off La Hague

On June 12, 2018, at 04.23, the 14 meter long Belgian-flagged sailing yacht "Rahona" collided with the "Mumbai Maersk" collided with the "Mumbai Maersk" about 65 nautical miles west of La Hague. The skipper, who was alone aboard the boat, informed the the CROSS Jobourg that he had not been injured and that his boat was sound. He required no assistance and was heading to the port of Chantereyne, Cherbourg. His course was regularly followed up by the CROSS Jobourg until the arrival in Cherbourg on June 13 at 2.36 a.m. There was a north-east wind of 15 knots on scene. The "Mumbai Maersk" was enroute from Tanger-Med to Bremerhaven with a crew of 26 on board at the time of the incident, ETA June 13.
