Tue Jun 10 11:31:02 CEST 2014 Timsen

A Coast Guard crew medevaced a Russian crew member from the "Saimaagracht", which was anchored about 11 miles off of the coast of Cameron on June 8, 2014. The man was coughing up blood and had difficulty breathing. The crew of the "Saimaagracht" contacted the Coast Guard at about 2:15 p.m., and about 4 p.m., the man was transported to the Chennault International Airport via an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter with a crew from Air Station Houston and a rescue swimmer on board. At the airport, an ambulance took the man to Lake Charles Memorial Hospital for treatment, where he was reported as being in stable condition.

Saimaagracht found yacht of missing single hand sailor and sank it

Wed Apr 09 11:42:40 CEST 2014 Timsen

On Apr 7, 2014, the "Saimaagracht" found the 11-m-yacht "Pokerface" drifting empty in the Atlantic Ocean of the Dutch solo sailor Sietse Hagen. Hagen had departed from Tenerife to Barbados on Jan 15 and has not been heard of since. The cargo ship was on the way from Savannah to Agadir when it encountered the sailing ship, a Gib’Sea Flush Poker, about 2000 kilometers off the Moroccan coast. The crew initially tried to get in contact by VHF radio. but when that failed, it was decided to go on board. The crew found the yacht with no one aboard. The documents showed that the "Pokerface" was owned by the 70-year Sietse Hagen from Tenerife. The ship was badly battered , as if it encountered stormy weather. The crew of the vessel in vain tried to take the yacht in tow. All personal documents and items of value were then removed from board, before, regarding the safety of shipping, the captain decided to sink the ship. Sietse Hagen was internationally identified as missing.
