Ferry broke down between Las Palmas and Santa Cruz

Tue Apr 24 10:01:02 CEST 2018 Timsen

The "Vólcan de Tijarafe" suffered an engine breakdown en route from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria to Santa Cruz de Tenerife in the afternoon of Apr 23, 2018, at 3 p.m. halfway between the two islands. The "Punta Salinas" of Salvamento Marítimo was deployed in order to take the ship in tow in case the damage could not be fixed on scene. But the crew managed to rectify the damage so far that the vessel resumed the sailing at 8.18 p.m. and arrived in Santa Cruz about two hours late with only one engine at 11.15 p.m. The ferry sailed back to Las Palmas de Gran Canaria on Apr 24 at 8.40 a.m. after technicians resolved the trouble.
