Tanker grounded off Flushing

Sun Oct 26 08:55:44 CET 2014 Timsen

The "Stavjord" ran aground between the Boulevard Bankert and the Boulevard De Ruyter off Flushing on Oct 24, 2014, at 8.20 p.m., but was free again at 11.50 p.m. The ship with a cargo of naphta was coming from the Botlek in Rotterdam and was enroute to Dow in Terneuzen when it got stuck in the Sardijn fairway. Tugs were unable to pull the ship off, one salvage attempt failed at 9.40 p.m., and it was decided to wait for the tide to rise. At 10.20 p.m. the tanker started to come off without assistance. The ship continued to Terneuzen on Oct 25 and sailed further to Scheveningen in the morning of Oct 26.
