Fire on dredger in Harlingen
In the midday hours of Nov 22, 2015, the fire rescue in Harlingen was alerted to a fire aboard the "Adelaar" which was berthed at the south pier of the port. Upon arrival, black smoke was already visible emerging from the exhausts and vents of the ship. The fire rescue attacked the blaze from inside and was able to douse the flames within short time. After the affected compartment was ventilated, the rescue forces could be stood down. The amount of damage on the dredger which is performing daily tasks to keep the water depth of Harlingen, was not yet known.
