Propeller issues off Margate

The 'Catherine', en route from Rotterdam to Purfleet with 20 crew on board, was adrift in southeast direction at a speed of 0.8 knots, due to an issue with its main engine, in position 51 34 43N, 001 46 07E, four miles south of the Sunk VTS area on June 30, 20200, at 03.40 a.m. She was carrying a cargo of 71 containers and 5854 tonnes of ro-ro cargo. The vessel was NUC seven miles west of the London Array wind farm and about 11.5 miles southwest from the Galloper wind farm. The expected time for the completion of repair work was two hours. Dover Coastguard carried out checks every 30 minutes. The vessel was putting out securities every 15 minutes. Finally it took about six hours to complete repairs. The defect was with the main engine due to technical issues with the CPP Propeller. The ship reached Purfleet on July 1 at 1.15 a.m.

Engine adjustments carried out

The "Catherine", while en route from Rotterdam to Leixoes required adjustments to its engine in position 50 16 45.6 N, 001 21 00 W, on July 20, 2019. The issue was fixed at 10.30 a.m., and the ship continued its voyage with an ETA as of July 22.

CLdN ro-ro deploys larger vessel CATHERINE on the Göteborg-Zeebrugge trade.

Complimentary to the introduction of four (4) sailings per week between Zeebrugge and Göteborg – since January 2018 – we are pleased to inform you about the next step in our strategy in order to upgrade the service level towards our customers, offering frequent and reliable ferry crossings. As from 24 February 2019 onwards, CLdN ro-ro will deploy a larger vessel on the Göteborg trade. By introducing M/V CATHERINE, one of our CONRO class vessels, which are extremely suitable to accommodate trailers and containers, the total capacity on the trade will be increased by a further 20%. The introduction of m/v CATHERINE links perfectly in with CLdN’s long-term strategy to continue deploying larger vessels on the trade.
