Buckets of excavator paddled tug to safety
The "Geitung" got into trouble while towing a barge in Karmsundet in the night of Aug 11, 2012. The barge was filled with rocks of the Karmøy Naturstein Marine AS and was bound for the Killingøy jetty when the tug had engine trouble just outside Kopervik. The barge was an excavator, and to reach safety, the buckets on the excavator were used as paddles. Pilot boats based in Kopervik assisted the tow to the safe harbor.
