Go America saved distressed fishermen
The "Go America" was involved in the rescue of three fishermen in the evening of Sep 14, 2014, while the U.S. Coast Guard rescued a fourth San Antonio man more than a day after his fishing boat sank off Port O'Connor. Joey Trevino, 37, was taken to a Corpus Christi hospital in stable condition after a Coast Guard helicopter plucked him out of the Gulf of Mexico around 9 p.m. He was on board a 25-foot boat with three other San Antonio men on Sep 134 when the boat capsized so fast they were not able to send a distress call. The cause remained unclear but the men were able to put on life jackets, which was the main reason they were able to be rescued. The three other men were rescued the following day around 1 p.m. off San Jose Island by the "Go America, an oil rig supply vessel. The men told the Go America" crew that Trevino had drifted away and was last seen with two lifejackets. The vessel contacted the Coast Guard and a helicopter, plane and three boats were sent to the area to search for the man, he said. Too, area mariners were notified by the Coast Guard to be on the lookout for a man in a red life jacket. Around 8:30 p.m., a tanker vessel that had stationed lookouts heard cries for help from the water and immediately contacted the Coast Guard. The agency's helicopter flew to the area, located the man, who was conscious, and hoisted him into the aircraft.
