Sunken wreck pulled into deeper water

Thu Oct 05 10:58:11 CEST 2017 Timsen

On Oct 4, 2017, at 10 p.m. the sunken wreck of the "Krasnoselsk" was moved 50 meters out into deeper waters. For a few seconds the wreck appeared at the surface. The trawler had sunk during the storm "Dagmar" on Christmas Day in 2011 off the quay in Hundeidvik in the Sykkylven municipality where it blocked other ships from docking since. Bjørn Idar Lyngvær and his company Fishtech AS who owns the quay was finally allowed to move the "Krasnoselsk" further into the depths of the sea. Using the two anchor handling vessels "Island Vanguard" and "Island Valiant" the wreck was reversed and then pulled out to a depth of 25-30 meters. One of the challenges was the strong current on the bottom, but the mission succeeded. The Mayor of Sykkylven, Odd Jostein Drotninghaug, who also had waited for a long time for the relocation of "Krasnoselsk", followed the operation and was very pleased when he saw the "Krasnoselsk" disappearing into deeper water. Plans to raise wreck abandoned

Wed May 04 11:33:31 CEST 2016 Timsen

The Sykkylven municipality has given up plans to remove the wreck of the "Krasnoselsk" which sank in Hundeidvik on Dec 25, 2011 in the Hurricane Dagmar. The mayor of Sykkylven, Odd Jostein Drotninghaug, has approached the Environment Agency with a view to getting towed the wreck to deeper water so it is no longer an obstacle to ship traffic. The trawler is resting 30 meters deep and about 30 meters from the pier, which belongs to Fish Tech. Parts of it are protruding up to five meters below the surface. The wreck has prevented the use of the dock since five years. The Ministry of Transport and the Norwegian Coastguard have rejected plans to raise the wreck. The pollution from the wreck has diminished over the years, and there were only minor emissions from it left.

Oil sheen at wreck of Krasnoselsk

Sat Jan 24 20:55:59 CET 2015 Timsen

A minor oil Spill was observed from the "Krasnoselsk" in the Sykkylven Community. The Coastguard was monitoring the situation with an aircraft on Jan 21, 2015. A sheen of 500 meters length was observed which was too thin to be recovered. On Jan 26 divers were to undertake a Survey. The Company Subsea Partner AS had drained the fuel from the wreck in December 2014. It recovered 60 tons diesel fuel.
