Brand new crane ship hoisted helicopter wreck after crash with 13 dead

The wreckage of a helicopter which belongs to CHC Helikopter Service and crashed at Turøy west of Bergen on Apr 29, 2016, killing all 13 on board, was raised by the "Multi Quality" the following afternoon and hoisted aboard the vessel. 12 men and one woman, among them 11 Norwegians, one Briton and one Italian aged 32 to 60 years were killed in the accident, the wreck was completely destroyed. The wreckage was located at 7,6 meters depth. The rotor was found on land, a few hundred meters away. The black boxes have been found and were sent to England on Apr 30. The "Multi Quality" has only been christened in Molde on Apr 23. Two of the fatalities were the pilots of the helicopter company. The oil workers were employed by six different companies: Statoil, Halliburton, Aker Solutions, Schlumberger, WellTec and Karsten Moholt. Five of them were living in Bergen. Four were from elswwhere in Hordaland, respectively Tysnes, Os, Sund and Øygarden. Three of Rogaland, respectively Stavanger, Sandnes and Jørpeland. The Briton was resident in the UK. The helicopter was on its way from the Gullfaks B platform operated by Statoil, when it crashed.
