Tug sank in Vancouver

Mon Sep 14 11:14:09 CEST 2015 Timsen

On Sep 11, 2015, the "Ocean Gordon" capsized and sank in the port of Vancouver. A vessel of the Coast Guard arrived on the scene 11 minutes after the distress call which was sent out at 6 p.m. The tug was towing a gravel filled barge of 15 meters length when it sank in a shallow area near the Centerm Terminal, east of Crab Park in Burrard Inlet. The crew of two was rescued from the water. The drifting barge was taken in tow by another tug. There were no sign of pollution observed by units of Port Metro Vancouver and the Canadian Coast Guard. The authorities were preparing to raise the tug, and the company responsible for clean up pollution in the Port of Vancouver, the Western Canada Marine Response Corporation, was ready to respond to spills.
