300 migrants escorted towards Lampedusa

300 migrants, who were adrift Malta’s SAR zone, have been reached by the 'Nadir'. On Oct 21, Alarm Phone alerted the authorities to the case, saying relatives of people on board had informed the NGO and provided a GPS position. It was only at around noon that Alarm Phone managed to make contact with the vessel, with the people on board reporting that the waves were very high and that they were at risk of drowning. Eventually Alarm Phone was provided with another GPS position of the boat showing that the vessel was further into the Maltese SAR region. In the afternoon, Resqship reported that the 'Nadir', together with Seabird, found the overcrowded fishing boat and was escorting it towards Lampedusa.

NGO ship rescued 170 migrants

In the night of Aug 3, the "Nadir" took 170 people on board, including several pregnant women, and thus saved them from drowning in the Mediterranean. The crew initially stabilized the refugees in four boats and asked for help, especially for two women who were pregnant in the ninth months. Since the Italian authorities had no ship available to evacuate the women and it could not be waited any longer, the crew took everyone on board. The Italian Coastguard then took over 60 people, including the emergencies. The “Nadir” brought the 110 remaining people ashore in Lampedusa in the afternoon of Aug 4.

NGO ship rescued 65 migrants

The "Nadir" supported four boats in distress with 160 occupants in the Mediterranean Sea. The NGO ship took 65 of them on board and brought them to Lampedusa on July 16, 2023. The other refugees were taken over by the Italian Coastguard.
