24 Filipino crew members of the "Pacific Express" qho successfully repelled a pirate attack September 20, arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport on Sep 29 aboard an Emirates flight from Mombasa. One Filipino seaman stayed behind in Mombasa to assess the pirate-inflicted damage suffered by the vessel as well as conduct a property inventory.

The Pacific Express vessel, which was attacked by pirates and rescued by the Italian military on September 20, arrived at the port of Mombasa (Kenya) on September 24, the Ukrainian Embassy in Kenya reported. The crew of the ship is made up of 25 Filipinos and a Ukrainian, the Foreign Ministry's spokesman Oleksandr Dykusarov said. According to the embassy, representatives of the ship owner met the crew and placed them at a hotel. The ship owner and the embassy are currently considering the issue of return of a Ukrainian crewmember to Ukraine. The sailor is to return home on September 26 or 27.
