Five fishermen rescued after ship capsized
Five fishermen have been rescued after the "St. Apollo - BA 359" ran aground and capsized in a severe squall in the Sound of Mull on Aug 24, 2015, at 3.30 a.m. The crew escaped on a life raft before the vessel capsized and were later found by the Oban lifeboat crew and taken ashore. At 4.25 a.m. the lifeboat arrived on scene and found that the crew of the fishing vessel had taken the precaution of launching their life raft while they were awaiting rescue. They were then taken aboard the lifeboat just in time to see their fishing vessel slip back into deeper water, capsize and become almost completely submerged. A search and rescue helicopter was scrambled from Prestwick but was stood down when the lifeboat crew found the fishermen.
