Adructed crew members freed

The three crew members abducted by pirates from the 'Ambika' on Jan 2, have been released. According to a representative of the Nigerian Navy, all three were released as a result of a special military operation in the coastal state of Ondo in southwestern Nigeria on Jan 8. After a three-hour operation in the Niger Delta, the special forces arrested one of the pirates and freed the crew members who were allegedly all uninjured. They were evacuated to a nearby naval base, while other pirates managed to escape despite gunshot wounds.

Four guards killed in pirate attack, three crew members taken hostage

The 'Ambika' was attacked by pirates in the night of Jan 2, 2020 Southwest of Barri on the Ramos river around miles east of the Forcados Terminal. Gunfire was exchanged between pirates and military armed security personnel on board. Four guards were killed, two more injured, and the pirates managed to board the dredger and kidnaped three crew members, including two Russians and one Indian. Five crew members remained back on board
