The Cameroon army freed the two crewmembers having been taken hostage from the "Amerigo Vespucci", on Philippino and one from Croatia. They had been kept in Douala. The government of Luxembourg as the flag state of the Belgian dredger had coordinated the efforts to free the sailors. The men had been captured by order of the rebel movement at Bakassi which intended to get eight prisoners freed.
