Fire was caused by short circuit

The fire aboard the 'Bandar Nelayan 271' was caused by an an electrical short circuit. The investigation was still ongoing. The fire broke out in the engine room while fishing in Pecatu waters, southwest of the Bulgari Hotel, South Kuta, Badung in pos. 08 33 44.6 S, 115 01 46.6 E on June 21 at around 5.45 p.m. WITA after the ship had sailed from Benoa Harbor at 10 a.m. Basarnas Bali dispatched a team of six to Benoa Harbor which confirmed that the burning vessel was completely empty. The Bali Basarnas, ABK KN SAR Arjuna, Surya Bakti and Bandar Nelayan 2009 were involved in the response.

All 31 crew members of the 'Bandar Nelayan-271', that caught fire in southern Bali waters on June 21, 2023, weare confirmed to be safe. They were evacuated by the KM 'Surya Bakti' which was nearby. The Bali Basarnas Operations and Alert Section dispatched an SAR team to the location of the burning ship.
