Tank barge half submerged following collision
The "Bernhard Burmester", 1386 ts (EU-No.: 08043011; MMSI-No.: 253242366; CS: LX2366), was in a head-on-collision with the "Dettmer Tank 81", 1318 ts (EU-No.: 4010280; MMSI-No.: 211177710; CS: DB5106), on the Elbe-Side-Canal at Bad Bodenteich in the Uelzen municipality in the morning of May 7, 2017. Due to unknown reasons one of the tank barges got into the course in the other, and both ships got entangled. They tried to reach a wharf in a distance of two kilometers. The "Bernhard Burmester" sugmerged with the bow. Around midday rescue forces were able to seperate the ships and secure them at the canal shore with the bow of the "Bernhard Burmester" resting on the bottom. The damage was estimated to be in the six-digit range.
