Bulkcarrier detained for various offences in Wedel

Mon Feb 03 13:55:57 CET 2020 Timsen

During a port state control aboard the "Tourmaline" on Jany 27, 2020 in Brunsbüttel and at the Wedel thermal power station, officials from the Brunsbüttel water police station and employees of the responsible regulatory authority have discovered various violations. On Jan 7 the ship was subject of a control in the Elbe port of Brunsüttel. As with a follow-up inspection on Jan 28 in Wedel, they discovered several crimes and administrative offenses. The public prosecutor in Itzehoe and the responsible authorities became aware of this fact. The trade association for transport and transport industry then carried out a port state control in Wedel and, due to the technical defects, imposed a sailing ban until the deficiencies were remedied. Because of the waste law violations, the water protection police collected $ 2,200 as a security deposit. Among other things, open metal drums filled with fuel and waste oil residues were stored on the deck. In addition, illegal disposal of cargo residues took place at sea. The officers initiated an administrative offense procedure against the 2nd engineer because of defects in the sewage treatment plant for which he was responsible, with a security deposit totaling US $ 930. The ship has been released after the relevant defiencies were remedied. It left the pier again on Feb 4 at 11.15 p.m., headed to Ust-Luga with an ETA as of Feb 9.
