Medevac off Southwest Pass
The US Coast Guard medevaced a 67-year-old woman from the 'Carnival Dream' on April 27, 2024, approximately 160 miles south of Southwest Pass, Louisiana. Coast Guard Sector New Orleans watchstanders received a report from the ship of a 67-year-old woman with symptoms of kidney failure. Watchstanders coordinated the launch of a Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter aircrew to conduct the medevac. The aircrew arrived on-scene, hoisted the woman aboard the helicopter, and transported her to awaiting emergency medical services personnel at University Medical Center in New Orleans. Medevac off Port Fourchon
The US Coast Guard medevaced a 62-year-old man on Sep 6, 2023, from the 'Carnival Dream' approximately 218 miles south of Point Fourchon, Louisiana. Coast Guard District Eight watchstanders received a report from the cruise ship of a 62-year-old man who had been diagnosed with a bowel obstruction by the cruise ship medical staff. Watchstanders coordinated the launch of a Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter aircrew to conduct the medevac and a Coast Guard Aviation Training Center Mobile HC-144 Ocean Sentry for cover flight. The Jayhawk aircrew arrived on-scene, hoisted the man and the ships nurse aboard the helicopter and transported him to University Medical Center in New Orleans and transferred him to emergency medical services personnel. Cruise ship rescued 17 migrants from capsized boat
The crew of the 'Carnival Dream' rescued 17 boat people stranded in the Belize Channel after the boat had capsized on May 17, 2023. The cruise ship was heading to the Port of Cozumel when officers saw the overturned vessel. The cruise ship immediately alerted the Belize Coast Guard, lowered one of their rescue boat and assisted in the safe recovery of the 17 people. They were in good condition. A transfer was coordinated with the Belizean institution. The 'Carnival Dream' then resumed its voyage and arrived in Cozumel on May 18. The ship had left the port of Galveston, Texas, on May 14.
