Human error caused cargo loss
The accident of the "Comierco" was caused by a human error. Someone had entered the wrong weight in the stowage program which calculates the stability of the cargo on a ship, Transport Inspectors found out. 40 sea containers fell finto the water of the Maasvlakte 2. Employees of the Port Authority pushed the containers out of the navigation channel. The ship berthed at the Keppel Verolme Shipyard in Rotterdam on July 24. Containers fell from barge
40 empty containers fell into the water from the "Comienzo", 5695 dwt (EU-No.: 02329316), in the Amazone Port in Maasvlakte, Rotterdam, late at night of July 20, 2018. They suddenly shifted to port side and plunged into the basin. The ship started to list but righted itself again. The container recovery operation was under way on July 21 by the "Fairplay X" and the "RPA 15".
