Repair of collision damage done, ship underway on the Northsea

Wed Feb 24 10:03:12 CET 2016 Timsen

The "EDT Hercules", after its collision with the Swedish tank m/v "Prospero", (IMO: 9212589), in the Kiel Canal at Breiholz left the port of Esbjerg again on Feb 23 at 4.30 p.m. Meanwhile the damage at the starboard side stern had been welded. The "Prospero", also having repaired the damage to its port side in the meantime, berthed in Rotterdam from Feb 23 at 3 a.m. until Feb 24, 1 a.m., before heading to Frederikshavn as next port of call. The accident in the Kiel Canal was thought to have been caused by both ships having been sucked to the other after a strong wind gust caught the "EDT Hercules" which was about to pass the tanker at that time and had not enough distance to the slower ship.

On Feb 20, 2016, at 11.30 a.m. the "EDT Hercules" was in collision with the "Prospero" in the Kiel Canal at Breiholz, canal km 49. Both ships were westbound. The tanker which was enroute from Swinjouscie to Rotterdam berthed in Brunsbüttel at the so-called Navy pilings north at 3.30 p.m. and continued the voyage one day later with an ETA at Rotterdam as of Feb 22 at 11 a.m. The "EDT Hercules" which had suffered at the starboard side aft moored at the so called railway pilings in Brunsbüttel on the opposite canal side and continued the voyage the following day. The "EDT Hercules" had sailed from Mukran on Feb 19 and reached Esbjerg on Feb 22 at 7. a.m. Reports with photos and video: http://forum-schiff.de/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=23&p=123542#p123542 https://m.facebook.com/mr.johannesen/posts/10210255062079373 http://www.maritimedanmark.dk/?Id=29618
