Medevac off Noirmoutier

On Nov 25, 2014, at 10:06 a.m. the CROSS Etel was alerted by the "Côte d’Emeraude" afther the master, aged 45 years, suffered an eye injury. The vessel was about 12 nautical miles west of the island of Noirmoutier at that time. After a conference call with the Maritime Medical Consultation Center (MMCC) in Toulouse and Medical Coordination Samu Maritime (SCMM) in Bayonne, a medical evacuation of the man was decided. The CROSS Etel dispatched a Dauphin helicopter of the Navy base in La Rochelle and the lifeboat "Georges Clemenceau II - SNS 069" of the SNSM-station Noirmoutier. The helicopter took off at 11:20 a.m. with a doctor of the SAMU 17 on board and arrived in the area at 11:50 a.m. The skipper was hoisted and transported to the hospital in La Rochelle, where he was met by a medical team of SMUR at 12:40.
