Grounding near Savary Island

The "Viking Storm" with a crew of four on board, ran aground near Savary Island, British Columbia, in position 049 55 46.8 N, 124 50 52.2 W, on Nov 15, 2018, at 06.25 a.m. With the rising tide, the vessel could be refloated. A Canadian Coast Guard vessel escorted the trawler to a local shipyard for inspections and repairs.

Transportation Safety Board investigators arrived in Ucluelet Saturday to interview the crew of a Canadian fishing vessel involved in a collision with a U.S. boat off the coast of Washington early Friday morning. Chris Krepski, a spokesman for the Transportation Safety Board, said the 90-foot Viking Storm, a Canadian vessel, collided with 40-foot Maverick around 4: 30 a.m. Friday about 30 nautical miles west of La Push, on the northern coast of Washington. The American vessel sank, said Krepski. Three crewmembers were rescued, but a fourth was reported missing. Search underway off Washington coast for missing sailor after collision

The Coast Guard is searching for a crewman missing from a commercial fishing boat that sank this morning off the northern coast of Washington. Four crewmembers were on board the 40-foot fishing vessel Maverick, which was involved in a collision with the 90-foot fishing vessel Viking Storm. The Maverick sank as a result of the collision and three of the four crewmembers were recovered by the crew of the Viking Storm. The Coast Guard said it has deployed three ships and a helicopter crew to help with the search. The three crewmembers rescued by the Viking Storm were transferred to the Cutter Alert. The crewmembers were reported to be in stable condition
