Tug disabled off Cudden Point
The 'GT Victory', en route from Castletownbere to Weymouth, suffered an engine failure and went adrift at 0,5 to 0,8 knots in southwest direction, possibly due to fuel issues and losing anchor, in position 50 05 06.0 N, 005 25 24.0 W, 0,8 nautical miles southwest of Cudden Point, Mounts Bay, on Dec 20, 2021. The RNLI boat from Penlee came to assist and took the ship in tow to a safe place for the transfer of an engineer. It was unable to get into Newlyn or Penzance port until the afternoon. After the engineer was dropped off by the lifeboat, he rectified the problem, and the 'GT Victory' resumed the voyage to Weymouth with an ETA as of Dec 21.
