On Apr 24, 2010, at 5.20 p.m. the "Hanaro Melody" suffered machine failure while sailing from Varna towards the Suez Canal, eight miles off Gallipoli in the Sea of Marmara and went adrift. The tug "Kurtama 2" was sent to take the ship in tow.
