Höegh Autoliners sells Höegh Triton for green recycling

On 15 May 2017, Höegh Autoliners sold the Pure Car and Truck Carrier MV Höegh Triton (built 1988) for recycling. The vessel will, in line with our green recycling policy, be recycled at Jiang Men City Zhong Xin Shipbreaking & Steel Co. in China, under supervision by Grieg Green. "This is the 17th car carrier we have sold for green recycling and we are pleased that Grieg Green will supply services to safeguard safe and environmentally friendly recycling of the vessel” says Steinar Løvdal, Chief Operating Officer Deep Sea.

The "Hoegh Triton" was brought into Dutch Harbor on Sep 28, 2010, in the afternoon after experiencing engine trouble. The "Triton" was coming from Yokohama, Japan and was transporting automobiles to Canada. The vessel has a piston problem with one of its engines. The other engine is still working and got it to Dutch Harbor.´The vessel will undergo repairs while at the APL dock. It is expected to depart again by the end of the week.
